An Israeli oil tanker has been attacked again amid ongoing tensions with Iran. It is being told that this tanker belongs to an Israeli billionaire businessman. The attack took place in the Arabian Sea near the coast of Oman. Two people who were part of the crew of the tanker have died in this attack. Both the deceased are said to be residents of Britain and Romania.

Oman and US Navy kept silent on the attack
According to the report, the attack was carried out on Thursday night targeting the oil tanker Mercer Street. The incident happened in the northeast of Oman’s Masira Island late on Thursday night. This place is more than 300 km from Muscat, the capital of Oman. Oman did not admit to an immediate attack. The US Navy’s Fifth Fleet, which patrols the maritime region of West Asia, has also not yet responded.

Questions are being raised about the timing of the attack
Israeli officials have not confirmed the incident. However, the alleged incident comes at a time when tensions between Israel and Iran have escalated and Tehran’s nuclear deal with world powers remains at a standstill. Other ships belonging to Israel have also been attacked in the past months. The proxy war between the two countries continues and Israeli officials have blamed Iran for the attacks.

British army gave information about the attack
A statement issued by the United Kingdom Maritime Trade Operations, a unit of Britain’s military, said the incident was under investigation. It was told that the incident took place in the northeast of Masira Island of Oman on late Thursday night. The statement did not give further details, but according to other sources, he does not suspect piracy in the attack. On Thursday, a British military group said it was investigating another incident in the same area.

The Israeli company also told about the attack.
Israel’s billionaire AirOffer’s Zodiac Group’s Zodiac Group issued a statement by London-based Zodiac Management, saying the vessel is an oil tanker named ‘Merser Street’ and belongs to Japan. Earlier, the information given by the UK Defense Ministry about the owners of the ship was wrong. The Zodiac Maritime described the attack as piracy, without giving details. The ship was in the North Indian Sea at the time of the incident and was on its way from Dar es Salaam to Fujairah, the statement said. There was no cargo on it.

Tensions continue over nuclear deal with Iran
The incident comes at a time when tensions have escalated over Iran’s nuclear deal and talks in Vienna to restore it have stalled. Former US President Donald Trump unilaterally withdrew from the deal in 2018, after which there have been several attacks on ships in the region and their suspicions have been going on Tehran.

The news of the attack also in the Iranian media
Iranian media cited foreign reports about the attack, but did not provide details. The attack came on the night US Secretary of State Antony Blinken warned Iran in Kuwait that talks on the nuclear deal in Vienna could not go on indefinitely.
