New Delhi
After resigning from the post of Punjab CM, Captain Amarinder Singh has attacked state Congress chief Navjot Singh Sidhu in a BJP style. In the 2017 assembly elections too, Amarinder launched a direct attack on his rivals Shiromani Akali Dal (SAD) and Arvind Kejriwal-led Aam Aadmi Party. At the same time, his attitude towards BJP remained soft. Amarinder’s stand led to claims in 2015 that he might join the saffron party. However, he later dismissed such speculations. Now the way he has taken an attacking attitude on Sidhu, there is speculation about him joining the BJP again. Just like the BJP, Captain Amarinder has spoken of Sidhu’s Pakistan connection without any ado. He has clearly said that if Congress makes Sidhu the face of CM in the next assembly elections, then he will openly oppose it. He called it a matter of national security. Captain Amarinder has claimed that Sidhu is not only good friends with Pakistan Prime Minister Imran Khan, but also with Pakistan Army Chief General Qamar Javed Bajwa. If he becomes CM, he will make Punjab unbearable. Amarinder has talked about Sidhu’s relationship with Pakistan a few years ago while linking the swearing-in ceremony of Imran Khan. Then Imran had invited Sidhu. Amarinder Singh had advised Sidhu that he should not take part in this function. It is a different matter that Sidhu ignored him. In Pakistan itself, Sidhu was seen hugging Bajwa. For this also Amarinder criticized Sidhu.

Amarinder and BJP on one-line
BJP’s stand on Pakistan has been very clear. She sees Pakistan as a factory to spread terror. Pakistan, who stabbed India in the back, has repeatedly shown that it is not trustworthy. He has again proved this with his double game by forming the Taliban government in Afghanistan. Amarinder has also been aggressive in this matter. He has not been seen taking a soft stand on any issue related to national security. This is what brings him closer to the BJP. At the same time, the attitude of many of its leaders including the Congress has not been as aggressive towards Pakistan as the BJP. If Amarinder does not oppose the Congress, it is also true that his views do not coincide with the party’s. Captain Amarinder Singh himself was involved in the 1965 war with Pakistan. His sensitivity in military matters is clearly visible.

Separate stand taken in Jallianwala Bagh case
In recent times too, Amarinder has spoken outside the party line. The Jallianwala Bagh renovation case is the latest example. Where the Congress accused the BJP of erasing history in the name of innovation. At the same time, Amarinder had given a clean chit to the Modi government for the renovation work. He had said that he was at the inaugural function. According to him, Jallianwala Bagh renovation is very good.

Recently met PM
Captain Amarinder is one of the few Chief Ministers of the opposition who have been openly meeting Prime Minister Modi. Recently also he had met PM Modi. Then he raised the issue of agricultural laws. Captain Amarinder had demanded the PM to withdraw the agricultural laws. Amarinder has never been seen doing such a thing as the Leader of the Opposition keeps attacking the PM.
