Now that bypolls are over, Manipur chief minister Nongthombam Biren Singh has stated surveillance groups could be despatched to meeting constituencies where voting was held to determine these displaying signs of Covid-19 in order that testing may be performed.
Singh stated the step is being taken to maintain a test on the outspread of Covid-19 particularly within the 5 meeting constituencies of Wangoi in Imphal West district, Lilong,Wangjing-Tentha in Thoubal district,Saitu in Kangpokpi district and Singhat in Churachandpur district.
Speaking to media on the Chief Minister’s bungalow in Imphal on Thursday, Singh appealed to the general public to adjust to the Standard Operating Procedures issued by the govt to include the outspread of the virus.
The media briefing was also attended by advisor (health) to chief minister Dr Sapam Ranjan and principal secretary (health and family welfare) V Vumlunmang.
The state reported 5 further deaths on account of Covid-19 within the last 24 hours, taking the loss of life toll to 207 on Thursday.
As many as 228 individuals from most of the people and 26 personnel from the Central armed police power had been confirmed as new cases.
Meanwhile, a complete of 191 individuals had been discharged after restoration. The cumulative count of positive cases is 21,211 whereas the numbers of operative and recovered cases are 3,115 and 17,889 respectively.
