The world’s first and India-made DNA-based corona vaccine has been approved for emergency use. The Drugs Controller General of India has allowed this vaccine of Zydus Cadila for emergency use. The biggest thing is that this vaccine will also be given to children of 12 years and above. In this way, the vaccination of children above 12 years of age is also going to start in the country soon. At present, the vaccine is being given only to people of 18 years and above in the country.
Children of 12 to 18 years will also get this vaccine
News agency ANI quoted the Ministry of Science and Technology as saying that on Friday, DCGI approved Zydus Cadila’s corona vaccine, which is the world’s first DNA-based corona vaccine. It will be applied to children 12 years and above and adults.
3 dose corona vaccine
This corona vaccine of Zydus Cadila is of 3 doses. This has been the largest clinical trial in India so far in more than 50 centers. The Ahmedabad-based pharma company had on July 1 sent an application to DCGI for approval for emergency use of the vaccine.
Sixth corona vaccine available for use in India
With the approval of Zydus Cadila’s corona vaccine, there are now a total of 6 Kovid vaccines in the country, which can be used. Earlier, Serum Institute’s Covishield, Bharat Biotech’s Covaxin, Russia’s Sputnik V, and America’s Moderna and Johnson & Johnson’s vaccine are being used.
How DNA Vaccine Works
This corona vaccine by Zydus Cadila is the world’s first DNA vaccine. Through this, genetically engineered plasmids are injected into the body. This causes the body to produce the spike protein of COVID-19 and thus produce antibodies that protect against the virus. Most of the corona vaccine takes 2 doses, but this vaccine of Cadila will take 3 doses.
There will be no pain, not with a needle, but by a special device
There is one more special thing about this vaccine. It will not be applied with a needle. It will be installed through a special device. Zydus Cadila claims that this method will not cause pain due to vaccination. The company even claims that the side effects of the vaccine are less than this.
