Based on his novella “The Hellbound Heart,” Clive Barker wrote and directed HELLRAISER back in 1987, and subsequent years discovered the movie turning into a franchise with a handful of sequels that could not hope to recapture the magic of the indigenous. That mentioned, the HELLRAISER franchise is slated to be resurrected as an HBO series, which positively has my consideration, and Deadline has reported that Clive Barker has joined up as an government producer. As Barker hasn’t had a lot to do with the franchise for many years, I’m maintaining my fingers crossed that it is a good signal.

The HBO series is ready to be written by Mark Verheiden (Battlestar Galactica) and Michael Dougherty (GODZILLA: KING OF THE MONSTERS), with Verheiden also serving as showunner. David Gordon Green (HALLOWEEN KILLS) can be onboard to direct the primary few episode of the series. In a press release, Clive Barker mentioned he was, “delighted the Hellraiser mythology is seeing a new life. It’s time the tales went back to their roots. I’m desperate to carry to a new viewers essentially the most highly effective and historical components of horror: the darkest evil invading our human lives and the way we should discover in ourselves the facility to withstand it.” Fellow government producer Dan Farah added, “Hellraiser began with Clive’s creativeness and we could not be further excited to have him onboard.” The Hellraiser series will not be a remake, however somewhat an “elevated continuation and growth of the prevailing Hellraiser mythology” It’s anticipated that the centerpiece of the franchise will still be Pinhead, who’s the chief of the Cenobites, a gaggle of hellish demons who topic people to excessive sadomasochistic experiments after they’re referred to as forth by a sinister puzzle pack often known as the Lament Configuration.
