New DelhiRashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) co-sarkaryavah Dattatreya Hosabole made a big statement on reservation on Tuesday. He made it clear that the Sangh is a ‘strong supporter’ of reservation. As long as a certain section of the society experiences ‘inequality’, it should be continued. The history of India is ‘incomplete’ without the history of backward and downtrodden. He has been a pioneer in social change. Reservations are a means of affirmative action. Hosabole said this at a time when a bill empowering states to prepare a list of OBC reservations was passed by a voice vote in the Lok Sabha on Tuesday. Hosabole said this at an event organized by the India Foundation for the release of a book titled ‘Makers of Modern Dalit History’. He said, “The history of India is no different from the history of Dalits. The history of India is incomplete without their history. Talking about reservation, Hosabole bluntly said that he and his organization Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh are “strong supporters of reservation”. “Social harmony and social justice are not political strategies for us. Both of them are objects of faith for us. Hosbole called reservation a ‘historic need’ for India. Said, ‘This should continue so long as a particular section of the society experiences inequality.’ He described reservation as a means of ‘affirmative action’. Said that reservation and coordination (among all sections of the society) should go hand in hand. Hosabole also said that it would be unfair to call the personalities who lead social change in the society as ‘Dalit leaders’ as they were the leaders of the entire society. He said, “When we discuss various aspects of the Scheduled Castes and Scheduled Tribes sections of the society, certain aspects like reservation definitely come to the fore. My organization and I have been strong supporters of reservation for decades. When anti-reservation protests were taking place in many campuses, we passed a resolution in support of reservation and organized a seminar in Patna.
