new Delhi: In the IPL 2022 auction (Sunrisers Hyderabad) bought Nicholas Pooran of West Indies. Spent Rs 10.75 crore to Hyderabad for a left-handed wicket-keeper batsman. Pooran has not been able to do anything special in the league so far. He has just two half-centuries to his name in 31 innings, yet Hyderabad spent more than Rs 10 crore to buy him. The spin bowling coach of the team has revealed about his purchase. He told that the team had not made a plan to buy Pooran earlier. They wanted to buy Ishan Kishan, but when Mumbai made a bid of more than 15 crores for Kishan, Hyderabad had to buy Puran. Muralidhavan disclosed this while talking to Sportskeeda. Murali, the highest wicket-taker in international cricket, said, “We initially wanted to buy Ishan Kishan. When they ran out of our budget, we started looking at other options. We also had the option of Jonny Bairstow, but the situation was not clear when he played throughout the season. We needed a wicketkeeper who would be available for the entire season. So we thought Pooran would be the right choice after Ishaan. The 2016 IPL champion Sunrisers Hyderabad had bid up to 15 crores to buy Ishan Kishan, but Mumbai Indians added him for 15.25 crores. Kishan has been a part of the Mumbai team in the league since 2018. Hyderabad bid for Pooran from the very beginning. The team got a fight with Kolkata Knight Riders to buy him, but in the end, Pooran joined Hyderabad for 10.75 crores.
