They have to finalize the list of players retained by them by 12 noon on Tuesday. IPL 2022 will be of 10 teams. The slab of teams will be Rs 90 crore. Along with this there are also many retention slabs. Existing franchises can retain a maximum of four players. Whereas the two new franchises – whose names are yet to be decided – Lucknow and Ahmedabad, can buy a maximum of three players from both the pools. But for this the first eight teams will have to finalize their retentions. If the franchisees retain 4 players, then Rs 42 crore will be deducted from their purse. If they retain three players, then Rs 33 crore will be deducted from their purse. On the other hand, 24 crores will be deducted from the purse for retaining two players and Rs 14 crores for retaining one player. Four crore rupees will be deducted for retaining an uncapped player. Each team can retain a maximum of four players (maximum three Indians, maximum 2 foreigners and maximum two uncapped Indians). New teams can choose up to three players (maximum two Indians, maximum one foreign and maximum one uncapped Indian). But after the retention pick is completed. If a team gives more money to a player than the retention slab, then the excess money will be deducted from his purse.
