His dream of leading Royal Challengers Bangalore to the IPL title as captain may have been shattered but Virat Kohli says that he will be associated with this team as long as he plays in this tournament. Kolkata Knight Riders defeated RCB by four wickets in the Eliminator match on Monday. Kohli has already announced that he will step down as the captain of the team after this season. After the match, Virat said, ‘I have tried to create such a culture in the team in which youth can come and show aggressive game. I have tried to do the same for the Indian team. I will only say that I gave my 120 percent to the team and will continue to give as a player even after that. He said, ‘Now is the time to build a fresh team for the next three years. I will play for RCB only. Loyalty matters a lot to me and my association with this team will last till my last day in the IPL. Regarding the close defeat at the hands of KKR, he said, “Their spinners dominated in the middle overs and kept taking wickets. We started well but could not sustain it. It was more about his good bowling than our poor batting. Kohli said, ‘We tried till the end but were 15 runs behind in batting and missed some big overs in bowling. Sunil Narine today showed why he is one of the most consistent wicket-takers in IPL. Narayan, Shakib and Varun all three bowled brilliantly and our batsmen could not play freely.
