Modi government approved 5.05 crores for the family of 101 journalists who lost their lives due to Corona

The government has sanctioned Rs 5.05 crore for providing assistance of Rs 5 lakh each to the families of 101 journalists who lost their lives due to COVID-19. This information was given by the Minister of State for Health and Family Welfare Bharti Praveen Pawar in the Lok Sabha. In a written reply to a question, he said that the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting has launched a special campaign to provide financial help to the families of such journalists.

Financial assistance will be given to the families of 101 journalists
Bharati Praveen Pawar, Minister of State for Health and Family Welfare said, ‘101 people who lost their lives due to Covid-19 based on applications received from the Press Information Bureau (PIB) and fulfilling the criteria laid down under the Journalist Welfare Scheme of the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting. A total of Rs 5.05 crore was sanctioned during 2020 and 2021 to provide financial assistance of Rs 5 lakh each to the families of journalists.

UP government had given assistance of Rs 10 lakh each
Earlier, the UP government had also provided financial assistance of Rs 10 lakh each to the families of journalists who lost their lives during the Corona period. On Saturday, during a program at Lok Bhavan, CM Yogi presented a check of financial assistance to the families of journalists.
