The 90th beginning anniversary of legendary lyricist Anand Bakshi fell on Tuesday. Bakshi has written songs for movies like Bobby, Amar Prem, Pardes, Lamhe, and Hare Rama Hare Krishna. Plenty of famous musicians and celebrities took to social media to recollect him.
Pankaj Udhas shared two photos with the lyricist and wrote, “Sharing two pics with legendary lyricist Anand Bakshi ji one in all Chithi Aayee Hai recording and further at movie Mohra music launch at the moment on his 90th birthday our respects and pranams to this phenomenal poet who wrote a number of the best songs for movies.”

Ashutosh Gowariker too remembered the legendary poet and lyricist on his birth anniversary. Gowariker wrote he had the honour and luck to work with Bakshi for his debut movie Pehla Nasha. Singer Anup Jalota paid his tribute to the legendary lyricist as nicely.

Bakshi received his huge break in Bollywood with the 1958 movie Bhala Aadmi. He wrote 4 songs for the movie, of which ‘Dharti Ke Laal Na Kar Itna Malaal’ turned extremely popular, reviews Republic World.
The artist who fled to Mumbai on the age of 14 also performed for 2 years as a cadet within the Royal Indian Navy earlier than getting his huge break.
Following 7 years of fight as a lyricist, he bought recognition from the movie ‘Jab Jab Phool Khile’ in 1965.
From movies like Sholay, Dilwale Dulhania Le Jayenge, and Taal to Dil to Pagal Hai and Dil Kya Kare, Bakshi wrote greater than 3000 songs and was nominated for 40 Filmfare Awards.

‘Pardesiyon Se Na Ankhiyan Milana’ from Jab Jab Phool Khile (1965)
The movie starring Shashi Kapoor and Nanda had the well-known track describing the unfulfilled promise of affection. The track was sung by the legendary Mohammad Rafi and led to one of the most well-known singer-lyricist duos of those times.
‘Pyaar Dewana Hota Hai’ from Kati Patang (1971)
The Rajesh Khanna and Asha Parekh had all its songs penned by Anand Bakshi and music by RD Burman. The track ‘Pyaar Deewana Hota Hai,’ picturised on Rajesh Khanna was sung by Kishore Kumar and is based on the Bengali track Aaj Goongoon Goonje sung by Asha Bhosle in 1965 movie Rajkumari.
‘Yeh Dosti Hum Nahi Todenge’ from Sholay (1984)
