New Delhi Congress leaders will visit Srinagar on 9th August. This will be Rahul’s first visit to Jammu and Kashmir after the abrogation of Article 370. He can meet party workers here. In 2019, the Modi government abolished Article 370, which gave special status to Jammu and Kashmir. It was decided to bifurcate the state into two Union Territories, Jammu and Kashmir and Ladakh. After the abrogation of Article 370, Rahul had said that the country is made of people, not pieces of land. He called this decision of the central government a violation of the Constitution. Rahul had said that there was misuse of executive powers in Jammu and Kashmir. On the other hand, on Wednesday, the former Congress president met the parents of the nine-year-old girl in the capital and assured them of full help, who had died under suspicious circumstances in the past. The girl’s family has alleged that she was murdered after raping her. Rahul Gandhi reached the Delhi Cantonment area and met this family and assured them to stand with them for justice. Many Congress leaders and workers were also present on this occasion. Sharing a picture of the girl’s parents, Rahul Gandhi tweeted, “The tears of the parents are saying only one thing – their daughter, the daughter of the country deserves justice. And I am with them on this path to justice. At the same time, on Tuesday, Rahul Gandhi and many other opposition leaders held a meeting on the Pegasus espionage case. It was emphasized that they would work together on a common strategy to surround and pressure the government on these issues. In this meeting, issues of inflation and farmers were also discussed.
