new Delhi: The results of the assembly elections in five states will be announced today. Counting of votes will begin from 8 am in Uttar Pradesh, Uttarakhand, Goa, Manipur and Punjab. More than 650 observers have been deployed in five states to monitor them. Meanwhile, the Samajwadi Party (SP) put the Chief Minister’s Office in the dock alleging EVM rigging. The SP tweeted, ‘There are reports of EVM rigging in many districts. At whose behest is this happening? Are the officers being pressurized from the Chief Minister’s Office? Let the Election Commission clear. On this, Chief Election Commissioner Sushil Chandra said that no one can hack EVMs. Rejecting the claim of SP chief Akhilesh Yadav, he said that no wrong is being done. From Varanasi to Bareilly, Saharanpur and many places there was uproar regarding EVMs. Earlier, SP workers had caught some employees allegedly carrying EVM machines from the counting center in Varanasi. There was a big celebration after that. After this ruckus, the administration has registered a case against 300 unknown people. On the other hand, Varanasi Commissioner Deepak Agarwal has admitted that there was a lapse in protocol in the movement of EVMs. In this case ADM N.K. Singh was removed from election duty.
