The government has allowed the export of domestically manufactured Russian single-dose Covid-19 vaccine Sputnik Lite here. This vaccine has not yet been approved for emergency use in India. Sputnik Light is similar to component-1 of the Russian vaccine Sputnik V. India’s drug regulator approved the emergency use of Sputnik V in April. Since then it is being used in the Anti-Covid-19 Vaccination Program in India. In India, Hetero Biopharma manufactures Sputnik Light. Russian Ambassador Nikolay Kudshev has urged the Indian government to allow export of Sputnik Lite to Russia until the vaccine receives emergency approval from the drug regulator in India.
