After voicing help for Woody Allen and criticizing cancel tradition, Spike Lee apologized Saturday for phrases he stated have been “fallacious.”

In an interview Friday on the New York radio station WOR 710, Lee referred to as Allen “a fantastic, nice filmmaker.”

“This cancel factor is not only Woody. And I believe that after we look again on it, (we’re) gonna see that, wanting killing someone, I don’t in case you can simply erase someone like they by no means existed. Woody’s a buddy of mine,” stated Lee. “I do know he’s going by way of it proper now.”

The following day, Lee tweeted an apology.

“My phrases have been WRONG,” he wrote. “I don’t and won’t tolerate sexual harassment, assault or violence. Such remedy causes actual harm that may’t be minimized.”
