Bangalore: The fans of the swashbuckling batsman (Suresh Raina) have got a big setback. This player was not bought by any team in the mega auction of the Indian Premier League (IPL 2022 Mega Auction). With this, it is believed that Raina’s IPL career, once called Mr. IPL, is also over. However, even now a team can include them if they want. Suresh Raina, who was part of Chennai Super Kings till last season, was not retained by the team. Since then, talks of breaking up of Jai-Veeru i.e. Dhoni and Raina started being said. However, it was believed that CSK could bet to buy Raina, but it did not happen. Raina was once considered the future captain of the franchise. It was said that if Dhoni retires completely from cricket, then his successor will be Suresh Raina, but at the moment it does not seem to be happening. Talking about Suresh Raina’s IPL career, he has scored 5528 runs in 205 matches at an average of 32.52 and strikerate of 136.73. He has one century and 39 half-centuries to his name. His best score is 100 runs. He is also the first player to score a century for India in all three formats. Apart from this, due to his agile fielding, he has been counted among the best fielders in the world. Suresh Raina’s career remained on the slopes after 2019. He scored 383 runs in 17 matches, including 3 half-centuries, while in the 2020 season he returned home after arriving in the United Arab Emirates due to a dispute and decided not to play in the tournament. After this, when he joined the team for the 2021 season, he could not perform in the way that the franchise had hoped for. He played 12 matches and scored 160 runs at an average of just 17.77. The team did not even feed him in the title match. It is noteworthy that CSK retained four players including their captain Dhoni, Ravindra Jadeja, Ruturaj Gaikwad and Moeen Ali. Jadeja was retained for Rs 16 crore, while Dhoni was retained for Rs 12 crore. Ali was retained for Rs 8 crore while Gaikwad was retained for Rs 6 crore. Let us tell you that Suresh Raina surprised everyone by announcing his retirement from international cricket on August 15, 2020, shortly after the retirement of MS Dhoni.
