At least two killed in car bombing
According to data from the Independent Human Rights Commission, 330 women and 565 children were killed in separate attacks last year. Earlier, at least two people were killed and 18 others were injured when a car bomb exploded at a district police station in Afghanistan’s northern province of Balkh. This information has been obtained from quoting sources. The incident took place on Sunday at the Balkh district police station, located northwest of the provincial capital Mazar-e-Sharif, Xinhua news agency reported. Thick smoke spread in the sky due to the blast and it created panic, the official said. Provincial police spokesman Adil Shah Adil told Xinhua that the head of the district police’s criminal investigation department and one officer were killed and 18 others, including the district police chief, and several civilians were injured. Local residents told the media that a Taliban suicide bomber detonated a hijacked military vehicle laden with explosives at the front gate of the police station, destroying several buildings and vehicles.
