Target of 477 runs, Zimbabwe battered ahead of Bangladesh’s bowling, defeat almost certain

HarareBangladesh declared the second innings for 284 for one on the fourth day of the ongoing one-off Test at Harare Sports Club on the back of brilliant innings from Najmul Hossain Shanto (117 not out) and Shadman Islam (115 not out) as they declared a total of 476 runs. Took the lead and set Zimbabwe a target of 477 runs to win. Zimbabwe scored 140 for three at the end of day’s play and still have 337 runs to spare. At the stumps, Dion Mears is at the crease after scoring 18 runs off 33 balls with two sixes and Donald Tripano scoring seven runs off 13 balls with the help of a four. Shakib Al Hasan, Mehdi Hasan and Taskin Ahmed have got one wicket each for Bangladesh so far. Chasing the target, Zimbabwe have suffered three setbacks on the fourth day and they have a long way to go to win. In Zimbabwe’s second innings, captain Brendan Taylor scored 92 runs off 73 balls with 16 fours, Milton Shumba 11 and Takudzwanase Kaitano scored seven runs. Earlier this morning, Bangladesh started their innings with 45 runs without losing a wicket with Shadman 22 runs and Saif Hasan 20 runs. Both the batsmen shared 88 runs for the first wicket. However, Saif got out after scoring 43 runs. After this, Shadman led the innings with Shanto and both the batsmen put up an unbeaten partnership of 196 runs for the second wicket till the declaration of the innings, giving Bangladesh a big lead and put the team on a strong position. Richard Nagarawa took the lone wicket for Zimbabwe.
