Team India wants to strengthen its preparations before the Test series against England starting on August 4. Only then will they go to play a warm-up match against the County XI starting at the Riverside Ground from Tuesday. Lokesh Rahul will be the wicketkeeper of Team India in this three-day practice match.
Rishabh Pant recovering from CoronaThis was confirmed by the Indian Cricket Board. There are two regular wicketkeepers in the team in the form of Rishabh Pant and Wriddhiman Saha. But both of them will not go on the field. Pant was found corona positive during the break he got after the final match of the World Test Championship. Saha is also in isolation till July 24 as he came in contact with training assistant Dayanand Garani and was found corona positive.
Official seal in the name of RahulConfirming to IANS on Tuesday, the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) said, “Rahul will take over the wicketkeeping duties during the warm-up match from July 20 to 22.” He will enter the bio bubble if Pant’s result is negative and after getting approval from the BCCI medical team.
Team India’s headache increasedThe non-availability of regular wicketkeepers is a matter of concern for the Indian team on the England tour.
