The India Meteorological Department (IMD) said on Friday that rain will continue over East India and Coastal Andhra Pradesh for the next two days. Dense to very dense fog will be seen over North India during the next 4-5 days. The IMD has also predicted cold day conditions over Northwest India for the next two days. The IMD said, a trough is running from North Interior Karnataka to North Interior Odisha in lower troposphere levels and a cyclonic circulation over South Konkan in lower troposphere levels, under which very moderate rainfall may occur. Very likely over Coastal Andhra Pradesh till January 16 and light/moderate rainfall likely over Marathwada, Vidarbha, Chhattisgarh and Telangana on Saturday.
Where are the chances of rain today?On Saturday, isolated light/moderate rainfall is very likely over Sub-Himalayan West Bengal, Sikkim and Jharkhand. Isolated thundershowers with lightning/hail very likely over Sub-Himalayan West Bengal & Sikkim and isolated light/moderate rain very likely over Arunachal Pradesh, Assam, Meghalaya, Nagaland, Manipur, Mizoram and Tripura Is. Under the influence of a cyclonic circulation in the lower troposphere levels over southwest Bay of Bengal and another over south Tamil Nadu; Light rain/thundershowers very likely at isolated places over Tamil Nadu, Puducherry, Karaikal, Kerala and Mahe during next 4-5 days.
not much change in temperatureTwo fresh Western Disturbances are very likely to affect Northwest India, the first from January 16, due to which there is a possibility of scattered rain on January 16 and 17; While the second will be from 18th January and thereafter light/moderate to heavy rains are likely over Western Himalayan region and light to scattered rain over adjoining plains for 2-3 days thereafter. The IMD said there would be no significant change in the minimum temperature over Northwest India during the next three days followed by an increase of 2-3 degree Celsius. It also said, there will be no significant change in minimum temperature over East India during the next three days followed by a drop of 2-3 degree Celsius.
Cold wave in northern statesIt predicted no significant change in minimum temperatures over Gujarat and Maharashtra during the next 24 hours and said that there would be a gradual increase of 2-4 degree Celsius thereafter. Cold wave conditions are very likely to develop over isolated parts of West Uttar Pradesh and West Madhya Pradesh during the next two days. Very cold conditions very likely to occur at isolated parts of Punjab & Haryana, Chandigarh, West Uttar Pradesh and Rajasthan during next two days and at isolated places over East Uttar Pradesh during next two days and during next 24 hours. Cold weather is likely to increase in Madhya Pradesh. The bulletin of the IMD said that during the next two days in the Western Himalayan region, Rajasthan, Assam, Meghalaya, Nagaland, Manipur, Mizoram and Tripura, during the next three days in Punjab, Haryana, Chandigarh and Delhi and Uttar Pradesh, Bihar And very dense/very dense fog very likely to occur during the night/morning hours over Sub-Himalayan West Bengal, Sikkim during the next five days.
