Bangalore: India scored 252 runs on the first day of the second test of the series against Sri Lanka. Shreyas Iyer played an important role in taking India to this score. Iyer played an innings of 92 runs. He took the Indian team to a strong score by counter-attacking against Sri Lanka on the difficult wicket of the M. Chinnaswamy Stadium. Iyer faced 98 balls in his innings. He missed a century but his innings took India to a strong score. Iyer was stumped by Niroshan Dickwella off Praveen Jayavikrama. Sri Lanka had a very poor start in response to India’s score. At the end of the day’s play, Sri Lanka’s score was 86 for six. He is 166 runs behind India’s score. In the beginning, he lost many important wickets including captain Dimuth Tillakaratne. The way the Sri Lankan captain got out was a really amazing ball. Shami was put on the bowling attack in the sixth over of the innings. He gave success to the team on the very first ball. He pitched a length ball outside the off-stump but before the batsman could understand, the ball came in quickly after being pitched. Karunaratne tried to stop the ball but it hit his defense with the wickets. Karunaratne returned to the pavilion after scoring just four runs. He had no answer to this inswinger. India’s score looks very strong on this pitch in Bangalore. However, reaching here at one point seemed very difficult as the Indian team was losing wickets at regular intervals. But Shreyas Iyer’s innings gave India strength. Iyer hit 10 fours and four sixes in his innings. He was the last Indian batsman to be dismissed.
