India’s lone gymnast Pranati Nayak failed to make it to the all-round finals of the artistic gymnastics event at the Tokyo Olympics. Nayak, 26, from West Bengal, scored a total of 42.42 in four sections (floor exercise, vault, uneven bar and balance beam). She scored 565 points. She finished 29th after the second sub-division. The top 24 gymnasts from five subdivisions advance to the all-round final which will be held on July 29. The top eight gymnasts from each category will play in the final of the individual event, which will be held from August 1 to 3. Nayak remained in the lower half in all. Nayak had no time to prepare for the Olympics as he had got entry from the continental quota after the 9th Senior Asian Championships, scheduled to be held in China from May 29 to June 1, was cancelled.
