New Delhi: Gujarat Titans head coach Ashish Nehra, one of the two new teams to join the Indian Premier League (IPL) in 2022, says that his team will participate to win, not play. He said that the Ahmedabad franchise is full of confidence. Let us tell you that the Gujarat team had retained Hardik Pandya, Shubman Gill and Afghanistan’s charismatic spinner Rashid Khan before the IPL 2022 Mega Auction. After making the team in the mega auction, Ashish Nehra appeared full of confidence during a conversation with The Times of India. When asked how he sees Hardik Pandya as a captain? To this Nehra said, ‘When you are talking about a cricketer like Hardik Pandya, you are talking about the IPL. There are 10 different teams in the tournament and if you look at this auction you will find that there were two new teams that were looking for a captain. We are fortunate that we have included Hardik in the team before the auction. Praising Hardik Pandya, he said, “I really value him as a cricketer. He is a strong player and I hope he does well. We have very good relations. He is excited and hails from Gujarat. A fun journey is about to begin and hopefully, in the next few years, when you look back, you will say that we did very well. Team India’s all-rounder Hardik Pandya has not played any match since the T20 World Cup. He has also kept himself away from domestic cricket due to fitness problems. Because of this, Mumbai Indians also did not retain him before the mega auction. After this, Gujarat Titans added him to the team, which blocked the way for his return to Mumbai. He will now captain this team. The franchise included Hardik Pandya and Rashid Khan in the team for 15-15 crores, while Shubman Gill, who was Kolkata Knight Riders opener till last season, was retained for Rs 8 crores. The team has bought New Zealand fast bowler Lockie Ferguson for 10 crores, while all-rounder Rahul Teotia for 9 crores in the IPL Mega Auction. Indian team’s fast bowler Mohammed Shami has been successful in getting into the team for 6.25 crores. It is noteworthy that the Ahmedabad franchise was bought for Rs 5635 crore. There were 8 old teams in the league, while Lucknow Super Giants became new teams along with Gujarat. Cricket is very much liked in Gujarat too, so the team will also get a lot of support from the fans.
