Weird animal found in America, older than dinosaur, builds house on land and water

WashingtonIn the last few days, you must have seen pictures of a strange insect-like creature on social media. The creature seen in the picture is not a rubber toy. It is an amphibian that was recently discovered in the Tamiyami Canal of South Florida. This animal, which lives on both land and water, has been discovered by the Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission.

It took scientists a long time to identify the animal, found a mile south of Miami International Airport. It is known as ‘Caecilian’. It was found after DNA testing. It is also known as Typhlonectes natan which was found even before dinosaurs. The social media post said that the scientists used a DNA test to identify the animal.

Less Known But Not DangerousColeman Sheaey said little information is available about the Caecilian but it is not dangerous. Coleman is the Herpetology Collection Manager at the Florida Museum of Natural History. He said that very little is known about this animal. Although there is nothing particularly dangerous about it and it does not look like a predator.

Makes small animals his preyHe said that it may have eaten small animals and larger animals would make it their prey. It may be another non-native species found in South Florida. The caecilians are mostly found in the tropical regions of South and Central America, Africa and southern Asia. They are mostly hidden in the ground and steam.
