WhatsApp is constantly working to improve itself, it can be gauged from the fact that the app keeps on launching more than one feature to upgrade itself day by day. Now WhatsApp is going to add another amazing feature to its platform. In fact, WhatsApp is now reportedly developing a flash call feature that will help users log into their accounts quickly. As of now, when a user tries to log in to WhatsApp, a 6-digit code is sent to their phone for verification. But now a new alternative method is reportedly being developed, in which WhatsApp will make a flash call to the user for verification. This will enable users to log in faster than the SMS verification process. This feature will prove to be very useful once multi-device support is rolled out, allowing users to easily log in to multiple devices at the same time.
WABetaInfo found this feature in beta versionMore details about the Flash Call feature were shared by WhatsApp feature tracker WABetaInfo, which was first seen in WhatsApp beta version 126.96.36.199. Through this process, “WhatsApp will call your phone number and then automatically end the call, verifying that the last phone number in your phone log is equal to the number that gives you a 6-digit code.” This phone number is always different, so there is no way to spoof this method to ensure a secure experience. For this feature to work, WhatsApp is reportedly asking the user to make and manage calls and access the phone. will ask for permission to access the logs. WhatsApp is reportedly working on an introduction to the feature to explain why it needs to grant this permission. WABetaInfo said in its report that WhatsApp can use your calls for other purposes. WILL NOT USE HISTORY It will only compare the last entry of your call history with the phone number that is about to call you and will not be used for other situations.
iOS users will not get this featureFurthermore, the feature tracker reports that the Flash Call feature will not be implemented on WhatsApp for iOS as Apple does not provide any public API to read the call history. Also, this feature is optional, and users can continue to log into WhatsApp by verifying the 6-digit code received via SMS or call. This flash call feature is currently in development phase and is not yet enabled in beta.
