Recently, the Income Tax Department raided the house of the actor, who came into the limelight by helping migrant laborers in the lockdown caused by Corona virus last year. Sonu Sood is accused of misappropriating Rs 20 crore through the funds received by his foundation. Now Sonu Sood has openly spoken on this matter and has said that even the tax officials who investigated him were happy with his work. Talking to our colleague ‘Bombay Times’, Sonu said, ‘I have given all the documents to the tax officials. Even they have given more than what they wanted. I do not have even an inch of land in Lucknow or Jaipur for which allegations have been made. As far as misappropriation of foreign donations is concerned, any company which has been registered for 3 years or more has to be registered with FCRA to receive funds. If my foundation is not registered, then I cannot take such funds. This is not foreign donations but money collected from crowdfunding. All the money deposited in this has to go to the hospital and medical college. This allegation itself is false as the money has neither come to India nor to my foundation. Not even a dollar has arrived in my account. Sonu Sood is accused of not fully utilizing the money donated. On this, he said, ‘Any foundation has a time of one year to use the funds. If the funds are not used, you can extend the usage for one more year. That’s the rule. I have registered my foundation only a few months back. Earlier we were not even collecting money. I have collected money from last 4-5 months only. According to the rule, I can use this money anywhere in 7-8 months. I will not let people’s hard earned money go to waste. My own earned money is also lying in this fund which I have donated. Sonu Sood also talked about the raid on his house. He said, ‘It was shocking that suddenly one morning the tax officer came to your house. My younger son was stuck in the house for several days because till the time the tax officials investigate, no one can go out. I am a very good host and I took great care of the tax officials. After 4 days, the tax officials also admitted that it was their best experience till date. And I said that I will also miss you guys. My work was also highly appreciated by the tax officials. On the question of joining politics, Sonu Sood said, ‘I respect politics a lot. We already have good policies. As far as I am concerned, I am not mentally ready for this yet. I don’t know what will happen after 2 years or 4 years. I never deny anything but right now I am not in the mood to join politics. I have recently turned down 2 offers to a Rajya Sabha MP. I think now is not the right time to enter politics. When I am ready for it, I will accept the offers too.
